Logos

1) Out of all the logos, I would have to say that Instagram's logo is my favorite. I really like this logo because even if someone is not familiar with this application and doesn't know what the app is for, the logo alone is able to express what the app is for. The logo is a brandmark and is intended to replicate an old fashioned camera. Evidently, the app is used to share pictures that either you took yourself, or a picture taken online. Because of this, I feel that the logo is very well designs and suits the purpose of the application.

1) I really like the design of this logo because instead it is colorful and attracts the viewer's eyes. Additionally, not only does it attract audiences that are older, it especially attracts the younger generation as well because the logo is a picture of something that is friendly and everyone knows of. Since the logo is for a juice store and the name is Poisoncat, I think the idea of emulating the cat's body into a beaker is very effective for their company. 

2) This logo caught my eye too because it is very simplistic but definitely expresses what the company is for. The logo is called MoBook and next to the text, it's an image of a book but instead of a book cover, it has a phone on top instead. Even without knowing the purpose of this company, just by looking at the design, it was easy to tell that it was something along the lines of electronic reading. 

3) This was also an eye-catching design because the image is of a bike with wings. I really liked how they incorporated a bike with wings because the logo name is FlyCycle and the image goes really well with the purpose of the logo. 

4) I really like how in the word Cow of the logo the company Branding Cow, it's a picture of a cow. I think it's really expressive of the company itself. 

5) The image of the key really caught my attention because it is very simplistic but definitely gets the point across of what the company represents.

1. I think in terms of text and fonts, my stance is clear. Although you might not be able to necessarily see the font, if you were to zoom in, you can see that the font was meant to imitate blood which was intended to give off a sense of death. I chose the black background with empty chairs because for one, red contrasts black so it makes the red stand out. Additionally, the composition helps support my stance because fur coats are usually worn by models so I tried to replicate a model dragging the fur coat with blood being smeared. 

2. Initially, when I created the thumbnail sketches, I did not draw the layout and composition of it but my ideas stayed relatively the same throughout the process. In the end, I actually like the new result because I feel that it is quite clear what my stance is and where I stand on this controversy. 

3. On my first version, I did not have any background at all. However, on the final version, I made the background look like a catwalk but empty to portray that there is nothing glamorous about fur coats even if it is being modeled because essentially, it is still animal cruelty. I made this change because with a completely white background, it didn't seem to depict my concept as clear. 

4. In my opinion, I think I would score the highest in the category of concept because it is clear what my stance is and captures the audience's attention. I feel the least confident in the category of skills and techniques because I think that I could have blended the model and even the text and font better so it looked more merged with the background image. 

5. Conceptually, I think the most challenging aspect of the project was concepts and visuals because it is definitely possible to have many ideas but I find it difficult to convey my ideas visually and have it look appealing at the same time. 

6. The most challenging part of the project technically for me was trying to cut out or get rid of the white edges so they look clean and crisp. 

How Music Changed Over Time

As the world around us changes, so does the type of music we listen to. Whether it's music played at a party or music we listen to for enjoyment, it is undeniable that music has greatly changed over time.   Music has originated even before the precolonial times, specifically during the middle ages. During the middle ages, music was generally instrumental and classical music followed not long after.

However, as we neared the 20th century, even more apparent changes to the musical stylings occurred. Not limited to Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Elvis Presley and more, various artists and bands began composing different music with styles such as jazz, rock and pop. Now in the 21st century, music has become more energetic, more upbeat, and definitely less acoustic.

Rather than composing the music with instruments like guitars and pianos, today, many musicians have become EDM, or Electronic Dance Music artists. More focused on the beat and percussion of the song, artists and DJs such as Skrillex, David Guetta, and Zedd have dedicated their entire musical career to composing these type of music that are enjoyed by people of all ages. Even today, music is changing and always will.

Reflection:

1. My concept was to try to create something that has been a part of me my whole life and not something that was as temporary and developed over time. I decided to draw the skyline to represent New York City since I have lived here my whole life and its something that really represents me as a person. Then I have a rocket shooting into the sky and exploding into fireworks since I really like fireworks. After it explodes and fades, it transitions into stars that form the Libra constellation which is my Zodiac sign. Even though it was cliché, I really liked the idea of having the skyline so I knew I had to do something with it and I have always been fascinated with stars and astrology so to make it more about me, I decided to do my Zodiac sign. My image enhances my concept because with the skyline, almost anyone can automatically tell that its New York City and even though some people might not be able to tell that its the Libra sign, at least they know that its stars and is a constellation.

3. In my original idea and when I was doing my thumbnails, I was only going to have the constellation and the Zodiac sign because it was really the only thing that represents me, but then afterwards, I changed my mind and decided to have a rocket going into the air then exploding because it added color to my GIF and results in an easier transition of the Zodiac sign. It would have looked awkward and forced if I just have the Libra constellation pop up out of nowhere, therefore, I decided to have the firework disappear then transition into the Libra sign.

Project Concept: For my project, I decided to take a picture of my friend's shoes and her hand so it looked like she was holding something. Then, I wanted to find a picture of a drawing of buildings that looked like it was from the top view and looking down into the buildings. 

Title: To Jump or Not to Jump

Personally, I feel as if I have a mutual feeling towards this final project. I like the idea and concept of this project but I think I could have done a better job executing this and fixing it up. I think I should have spent more time playing with the brightness and contrast as well as blending the pictures better.

Step by Step:

1. I opened my first picture which was my friend's hand and used the magnetic tool so I can remove it from the background of the original photograph.

2. Next, I opened the picture of the background so it is just the background and the view of my friend's legs.

3. After that, I copied the cut out of my friend's hand and pasted it onto the picture with the background and her legs.

4. I then used the magnetic hand once again to remove the right shoe from her foot and copied it.

5. Next, I opened the drawing onto a blank tab and copied it back onto the original picture with the background.

6. Since the picture was from google, it had an area of text on the drawing so I used the smudge tool to blur out the text.

7. Afterwards, I copied the picture of the drawing and pasted it onto the original photo and moved it to the center of the document.

8. Finally, I continued moving the pictures around and ended up deciding to place the hand on the corner and moved her right feet onto one of the buildings / skyscrapers so it looked like she was holding the drawing of the buildings as well as stepping on one of them and looking down.
